MORE TO COME
CHECK BACK SOON
After a 2 year hiatus, Tara is ready to get
back into swimming. Having practically
lived int he pool growing up, her coaches
dubbed her a “water baby”. She started
swimming for a summer team when she
was 6 and then transitioned to the YMCA
winter team during the 5th greade It was
there she found her lifelong passion.
Ever since, she has had some form of
swimming in her life, whether with herself
or coaching others.
Her senior year of high school she made
it to YMCA Nationals after 5 years of
trying. This landed her a walk-on spot at
Division I Ball State University where she
climbed to the top and was ranked their
fastest breaststroker by her senior year.
She helped set 2 of Ball State’s relay
records and ended up in top eight at
championships in both breaststroke
events junior and senior year. She is a
shining example of how hard work and
determination will get you beyond your
goals.
Outside of being a swimmer, Tara found
her true love for instructing when she
majored in art education. During college,
she assistant coached two summer swim
teams and worked at Ball State’s swim
camp. After graduation, she was the lone
coach for the Lumberton High School
swim team in North Carolina while
teaching art at their sister middle schoool.
She then moved back to Ohio and
accepted the position as head coach for
this very team for 2 years. Life,
uncertainties of futuer, and a knee surery
kept her away until this year, when she
realized her life isn’t whole without
swimming. Now, complete with a full time
job and a plan, she is excited to be part
of the team again.
